Flames Fans Blow off Steam Here

The Calgary Flames exited the playoffs in the first round for the third year in the row. This year was particularly hard because the Flames paid for players, had a veteran team, yet couldn’t string together consistent wins. Here’s your chance as a fan to sound off and have your say.

Have something to say? Just let it out!

Just can’t quite pinpoint why a veteran team with a veteran coach couldn’t string together consistent wins. I wonder if the team was really together in the room especially when players routinely take nights off. TOo much partying in California me thinks.

Expect some changes. At 50 million payroll and the kind of inconsistency we have seen there will be a dump. The only good thing about the playoffs is we found out that we have a cool forth line in Primeau Moss Nystrom.

I am not sure why everyone pinpoints the Calgary Flames’ performance. Did anyone notice the resemblance this game had with the 2004 loss to Tampa? Same cover up during the dying minutes of the game – Who were the referees trying to silence by penalizing D. Andrychuk during the last few seconds – identical penalty against the Sharks. Needless to say, it was Andrychuk in 2004? Who is it this year?

To put it simply, Sharks won courtesy of reffing …..What’s more, do you really suppose that merely the presence of JR would produce so much energy in the 3rd period? I very much doubt it!. The momentum on ice changed after Nolan’s goal – Did anyone see Ron Wilson’ reaction? From his very reaction, anyone could predict what the outcome of the game was going to be – and the penalties against the Flames started. Honestly speaking, the legend of the Stanley Cup has lost its meaning because the playoffs are not professional competitions any more. The only error that Keenan made was to put Kiprusoff in goal – and even if he did, Joseph should have been asked to take over after the Sharks tied the 2nd goal.

IT wasn’t he refs fault, it was bad officiating, but Calgary put themselves in a hole and disappointed everyone back here.

Nobody is saying anything about keenan’s gaffe pulling Kipper. What was that all about? You pull the number one and get scored on 52 seconds later–that all but took away any chance. Dumb move that put the final nail in the coffin.

    HAHAHA (F)lamers! You’ve been EXTINGUISHED

The best part about it is, your sucky old players are tied up for years in their contracts. Here’s to a few more years of mediocrity until those contracts expire.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Which players? As far as I know we can let go baggae like Smith, Nilson, Conroy, HUselius, Warrener.

The refs had nothing to do with it. The Flame’s players taking the penalties had everything to do with it. Maybe if Kiprusoff saved Roenick’s 45 foot, 25mph pass the game outcome would have been different

Agreed the refs had little to do with the outcome but they did change the complexion of the game. Not sure why the goalie was pulled, time out would have been better in retrospect. What can you though, move on and build for next year.

It’s really too bad the the Flames choked in the first round for the third year in a row. Is it the head coach? Nope, I don’t think so because Playfair was the bench boss last year and Sutter was behind the wheel the year before. Iggy pretty much held his own, but it’s tough when your supporting cast does not come through. Calgary also needs more than just one scoring line. The penalties really killed Calgary this time around and you can’t blame their first round exit on the refs.

Sutter should ditch Tanguay, Huselius, and good ol’ Connie and see if he can get his hands on Heatly, Spezza, and Alfredsson from Ottawa – considering their season he might be able to get them for a good deal. Or too bad the Sedin Sisters aren’t available from Vancouver because I think signing them up and finding and dusting off Anson Carter could give Calgary that solid scoring edge that they’ve been looking for.
