Flames Prepared for Draft 2008

Upcoming is the 2008 draft, over three full months before puck drops for the 08-09 season. Who says hockey stops during Summer? This year the Flames will pick 17th but all eyes aren’t on the relatively deep draft/draft position. Rather, talks are heating up about potential trades. The usual reports are resurfacing pinning O Jokinen, a C from Florida, heading to Calgary. Nothing really to these rumors other than interest. You see, the only way Jokinen would come to Calgary would be if Tanguay went the other way (or some three way deal.)

Langkow is already around and losing Tanguay and Huselius (to free agency) would leave the team short on the LW. Here are some additional articles about the latest happenings.

  • Calgary’s draft potential and strategy for Friday
  • Flames probably looking for a forward.
  • ‘News’ about the ‘recent’ signing of Daymond Langkow from a Minnesota writer. Good point though, deal has been set verbally but there won’t be a signing until July 1 whe nthe cap increases. One of those dumb things.
  • more to come.
