Game 21: The Flaming C’s host the Red Hot Wings

The most significant day has arrived when the Flames’ confidence and determination will be attested by the 2nd best team in the Western Conference, the Red hot and mighty Wings. No doubt, the Flames’ performance had been excellent against the Colorado Avalanche in every respect – they remained dominant and consistent for the most part, were well disciplined, controlled the play and maintained their game plan. Albeit they had their fun at the Av’s expense, but their presentation on Saturday will be the decisive factor whether they intend to continue their winning streak to three in a row.

Statistical challenges to anticipate

The Detroit Red Wings (13-2-3) have two games in hand. They are 9-1-1 on the road while the Flames are 7-2-1 on home ice. Chris Osgood has 3-1 against the Flames. Since their power play is 34.18%, DISCIPLINE WILL BE A MUST FACTOR FOR THE FLAMES, or they will be distinguished within minutes. Instigation and unwarranted penalties will be a definite NO NO NO!.

Plan for success:

The Flames will have to be more dominant in terms of controlling the puck and the play in general – winning the majority of the face offs and more importantly STGP (stick to game plan). The master mind behind the bench will have to work wonders for his troops – he is the Key to their success. Should the Flames bring out their “shooting gallery squads” with random shots on goal and strong defensive play, they will be able to keep Chris Osgood on his toes.

This nail biting game will be televised on CBC tomorrow, November 22nd at 8:00 pm MT.
A play by play summary will be hosted on The Fan 960. Stay tuned

On a favourable closing note, Bourque, Bertuzzi, Iginla and Langkow were great contributors to the Flame’s success in the last two games collecting multiple points. In addition, Mike Cammalleri had been exceptionally productive against the Av’s. It is anticipated that Lombardi will most likely return on Saturday. If not, then Prust and Nystrom will be the valuable contributors for the Flames.

    Hi Hark,

Thank you for sending the 2004/5 consipiracy video. The pain of our players and the (afternath) inspirations of the fans will never be forgotten. To this day, I believe that we had actually won the Stanley cup and it had only been rerouted to Tampa because on one Man - Andrychuk? What is most annoying is the fact that no-one in NHL had the courage to do anything about it....

Having said this, if and when we do win the stanley cup again, it will be in a glorious way - nobody will be able to deny it.
