First CFL Replay Error – Stamps Loose Against Argos

Flamesforum is here for all Calgary sports and I thought we’d post some Stampeders info. The Stamps lost a boring game against Toronto that saw Grandpa Simpson–I mean Allen–make smart decisions to burn up the clock. I would like to make a few comments about the game as a whole from a Stamps point of view.

1. This is the first time we’ve seen the instant replay fail. On a 2nd down with 29 seconds left to play the Stamps made a reception (Johnson caught the ball for this 3rd incomplete pass on 4 passes to him), everyone knew there was a catch, Toronto knew it was a catch, the fans knew it was the catch, Jake Ireland the ref thought otherwise. One has to wonder if the Toronto execs showed him all the replays….

2. Why is K. Abdullah playing instead of John Grace? Why? That guy is a liability on this great defense, did he even make a tackle all game? Now Cornelius Anthony is hurt with an ankle injury and John Grace will come in, but when Anthone is back Grace will sit, I don’t like it.

3. Burris needs to pick up his game, 2 interceptions no good. The whole team needs to pick up their game, I’m not angry, not upset, it’s a good loss and they’ll regroup for BC.

Head coach Tom Higgins had this to say about the bothced call, “don’t blame this on the officiating,” thanks Tom, cool heads prevail when I want to kill someone :P Good coaching.

Even Sandro Deangelis got things going before the game even began challenging two defensive linemen from Toronto. (It’s hilarious to watch the shrimp Deangelis behind the huge Olineman protecting him :P)

Sandro had this to say about the altercation, “…we were talking about whose Tomato garden was better, I said mine was better and he didn’t like it.” Later he said, “…I’m not going to back down when defensive linemen give the kicker flak”.

Well said Sandro, enjoy the garden.

Flames Lounge Coming Soon

If you recall at the end of last season the Flames announced they were going to open a new sports lounge right in the heart of downtown Calgary. Well I walked by the new location and decided to snap a few photos. (The Gallery as the rest.)

You can see this will replace the old Palace night club on Stephen Ave. A great great place to watch the game and I’m sure it will be a happening place especially for early games (gives a chance for the corporate types to go after work.) Hope I can get in and have an overpriced ale…..

FlamesForum.com Ready for 2006-2007

Hello FlamesForum.com Fans!

I can’t believe it, this Sunday the 17th pre-season opens against Bootuzzi and the Panthers. The line-up has changed, the coaching staff has changed, and FlamesForum.com has changed!

As original FlamesForum users we’re going to bring you up to speed about the new and exciting changes we made throughout the summer to make FlamesForum the leading fan web site online.

New To FlamesForum.com:

Welcome to the new ownership! Dave and Barry are still owners but Barry is now taking on more responsibility. The good news is Dave is still around and will be taking his camera to practices and games.

Speaking about cameras, FlamesForum.com will do a Flames first: an online fan picture database where fans can share their photos of Flames players and events for others to browse! This feature is almost ready to launch so keep a look out for the new improved gallery!

New forum features. We’re in the final stages of offering forum ‘reputation’ that many of used in the past. Basically the forum feature will allow you to ‘disagree’ and ‘agree’ with posters. Collect reputation to ‘rule’ Flamesforum.com!

New FlamesForum Blog. The homepage is now a news blog for your enjoyment! We’ll be posting post-game thoughts and the latest NHL and Flames news here. The great part about our blog is a) it’s not ugly, and b) you can use the numerous ‘news feed’ links to stick FlamesForum.com in your favourite online news reader.

New design. It’s nothing major, but for now we’ve fixed our design headers and will likely rotate new ones in as the season progresses.

Whew! That’s all, for now. We hope you’ll come back to us for the new season and have your voice heard in the forum. Most of us are still walking aimlessly around wondering what happened in the first round. The only thing to get us Flames and NHL fans out of post-first-round exit funk is—well—FlamesForum!

Inviting you and your friends; we hope to chat with you soon!

For FlamesForum.com,

Barry
