Flames Players Dominating IIHF

Lombardi and Phaneuf Scoring Big

Team Canada advanced to the semifinals at this year's World's and will face Sweden on Saturday. What's more interesting from a Flames fan perspective is who's doing all the scoring.

Operating on the top line Matt Lombardi has five goals in his last two games, and six overall to lead all Canadian scorers.

Not only is Lombardi scoring, but Dion Phanuef is getting in on the action. Phaneuf assisted twice in the last game now has six assists despite not joining the team until its third game of the tournament.

This just proves what i was saying all along after the Conroy trade, Lombo was wasted on the fourth line. I really can't believe all of these rumours that are floating around that Lombo is going to be traded this summer. If we actually used him properly instead of shuffling him down to the 4th line he would have contunied the scoring pace he was on and not gone off the boil like he did.

If we trade this guy he is going to do a St Louis on us and turn into a amazing C.
