Flames 2008 Draft Coverage - Flames Trades and Rumours
Calgary's looking for a forward, I guess we have depth at the back end? Definitely the teams have goalies galore, but what about a #1 C? Let speculation run ramped. Olli Jokinen to Calgary for Regehr? Tanguay goes to Montreal for a pick, and pucks. Flames get nothing, etc. Whatever, let's wait and see, SOMETHING will happen so stay tuned.

5:00PM: TSN page to Tanguay rumor. Not confirmed. If it's true expect Calgary to turn the pick around and get someone in return (Jokinen).

Calgary sent their first-round selection (17th overall) to the Kings who then ship that pick and the 28th overall selection to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for the Ducks' 12th overall draft pick.
Jokinen chats done. He's off to Phoenix for 2 d-men (Boynton and a pick). Seems the rumors of Regehr for Jokinen were true, as in that's what Florida was asking.
Oh yea, Stamkos goes #1. But we're more about the Flames right now.
Some more talk that the Flames may have given up next year's second round pick for Cammalleri. Sounds a bit steep.
The Flames in fact receive this year's 25th overall pick and next year's second round pick from Montreal's. Calgary gives up Tanguay and our fifth round pick this year.
The Calgary Flames used the 25th overall pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft on Friday to select center Greg Nemisz from the OHLs Windsor Spitfires.

The 18-year-old Nemisz finished third on the Spitfires with 34 goals last season and tied for the team lead with 15 power-play tallies. The 6-3, 197-pound native of Oshawa, Ontario represented Canada at this year’s Under-18 World Championship and also was selected to participate in the Canadian Hockey League’s Top Prospects Game.
Nemisz possesses all the physical tools neccessary to become a good power forward in the NHL. He has average skating ability but uses his body well to keep defenders away from the puck.
“He’s a big kid,” Calgary general manager Darryl Sutter said. “He’s got good hands and he likes to go to the net. We’re looking forward to seeing him develop and, hopefully sooner than later, see him playing for us.”
Calgary picked in the second round centerman Mitch Wahl - 6'0", 175 lbs from the WHL Spokane Chiefs.
