Not from what they've done but from what someone else has done. The Calgary Flames have clinched their fourth consecutive playoff birth after a Vancouver loss. The news is bittersweet as recently came off a 3-1 loss to the division rivals and leaders Minnesota Wild. Flames fans are also sharing in the news, some rejoicing, others shaking their head in gloomy anticipation of what could be a quick and painful playoff exit.
The Flames will most likely play San Jose with a chance at Minnesota. How do you think the Flames will fair in the post season? Post your comments below.

Crash the crease, you'd think they'd get the message. Throw the top goalie off his game just as the opposition tries to injure you goalie. Tit for tat, and guess what, Anaheim won the cup last year doing it, Vancouver did it against the Flames Sunday, Calgary needs to do it for the rest of the season. The traffic and contact in front of Luongo does not compare to the extent opposition players are crashing the crease against the Flames. It's a shame Calgary will drop the gloves for no particular reason (change momentum?) but won't destroy players who take liberties in front of the net.

Calgary has come off their last game of a 5 game road-trip with six of a possible 10 points. Given the fact they squandered an easy two in LA and the environment at home amongst fans calling for blood, the Flames went .600 on the road trip. Things could be worse, but there are is a sliver of hope the team is understanding the need for consistency game in and game out. That's going to be needed given the schedule coming up. Detroit, Minnesota and Anaheim again are on tap for the remainder of the month. However, before Anaheim will be another date, the trade deadline. Will the Flames make a big move? We think not. Given the rhetoric coming from the Flames brass we figure the following may go down:
Tanguay Won't be Traded

Stampeders Forum bashed the junk out of Eric Francis--and rightly so. However, let's give him some credit for this nice article on Iggy.

The Flames are fresh off a lucky win against Minnesota and are currently the healthiest team in the West. But, as we approach the quarter point for this year's season there are unfortunately more questions than answers surrounding a team that's supposed to be a cup contender with more fire power and experience. From top to bottom, the players are making fans scratch their heads in bewilderment wondering what it takes to witness 60 minutes of solid NHL hockey. Since none of us can actually go in and make changes, let's comment and rant together as we practice our arm chair GM skills.
Changes to be Had After the First Quarter

Langkow has a concussion and won't be back for Saturday. Chances are there will be no move by the league. Keenan suggested that Langkow put himself in the position to be hit and didn't blame Cooke. More updates to follow.
EDIT: Langkow tested high on the concussion scale (whatever that is). That's bad, so he's out indefinitely at this point.
Edit Nov 12: Langkow was practicing today, could be back Tuesday.

Kind of. Monday's colour commentary for the PPV game against Colorado will be conducted by none other than the Fleury man himself. I think that in itself is reason to hook it up. Hope he does well.
