Since Vancouver Calgary has turned around the ship in terms of defensive play (almost 100%) and offense (over 30 shots for the fourth game in a row). The folks not turning it on is the first line, in particular Jarome Iginla. Iginla has picked an inopportune time to take his worst slump of year, not scoring a point in now five games. The difference tonight was really the top lines. Pittsburgh's scored, Calgary's didn't. Crosby scored, Jarome didn't.

Kevin Weeks BLOWS as a CBC colour commentator. He's boring, he's monotonous, he's monotone, and he's in love with the Canucks. HE sucked to start the season and most of the country doesn't know what type of garbage colour commentary he gives cause they're asleep in the East. The guy is OVERTLY pro-VANCOUVER you'd think he was getting paid off. He should know MORE about the game since he actually played it, albeit as a career back up goalie. The man is a fool who has a hate on the entire Calgary Flames team and a love affair with marginal Alex Burrows. FIRE this ridiculous excuse for an announcer....mind you, it's the lame CBC running the show, so they put the two worst people together cause they can't afford anybody worthwhile. GARBAGE!
Please put your favorite idiotic Kevin Weeks posts below and we'll maintain a running tally until he's fired.

2009-2010 NHL season predictions are rolling out so I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon. Now, admittedly I'm not a huge hockey fan, as in I don't stay up and watch all the games on NHL Center Ice. As such, I rarely see games from the East Coast, mostly on purpose. Nonetheless, I do keep track of the ins and outs and have some thoughts on the upcoming season. Without further ado, here are my predictions for the regular season final standings:
Eastern Conference
1. Boston
2. Pittsburgh
3. Washington
4. Philadelphia
5. New Jersey
6. Carolina
7. NY Rangers
8. Montreal
9. Tampa Bay
10. Toronto
11. Buffalo
12. Ottawa
13. Florida
14. Atlanta
15. NY Islanders

Sitting at the game and watching the final minutes of a successful Flames victory over divisional rivals Minnesota one was surprised to see five goals scored, and the Wild play such a bad game. The fourth line put in some valuable minutes and got to play out the game in the final moments.
What was unexpected as well was Derek Boogaard's blatant attempt to injure Brandon Prust. Coming in off the wing late he crushed Prust with an elbow straight to the jaw. Prust just returned from a broken jaw so you knew Boogaard was aware and tried to re-injure Prust.

The Fan 960 put together a hilarious music montage about the Edmonton shallacking experienced at the hands of Buffalo. IN case you're wondering, Edmonton was hammered 10-2, Calgary later beat the Sabres 5-2. Yesterday the Flames came off their latest victory against Nashville to claim the season series; this vid adds salt to the wounds of a battered but improving Oilers team so here it is for your enjoyment....

He had a better chance at the cup with NY, but Mats Sundin decided Vancouver was the place to hang out, and Vancouver has 10 million to blow (about 6 million now). The question is this: how will this affect the rest of the league, will it be a showdown as GM's pull trades. Let the landslide begin.

So many bloggers are wondering out loud why Sean Avery was suspended six games for his 'sloppy seconds' outburst in front of the media in Calgary Tuesday. According to TSN the Dallas Stars may have shut the Avery door permanently (someone internally will get backlash for even bringing him in the first place), and rightly so. Dallas bloggers want to get on with it but do suggest the suspension was too long.

Seems as though fans are stuffing the box. Detroit and Montreal, although good, have benefited from over-zealous fans stuffing NHL ballot boxes online to get their favorite team exclusive in at all positions. Don't let it happen. Here's the latest results at this time, Crosby and Iginla, and Phaneuf have challenged, go vote for them!

We welcome first time blogger Nathan to FlamesForum.com. He'll be posting a Flames article soon but for starters here's a bit on Sundin. If you'd like to blog for FlamesForum.com visit our 'Join the team' page and learn more. Here's Nathan....
Should Mats Sundin make up his mind? Yes, definitely.
I bet Mats is actually using a Magic 8 Ball to decide his hockey future. I can picture it. Sundin is in his house in Sweden furnished by IKEA (Do lots of people in Sweden furnish their homes with IKEA products? I’m very curious to find out) and I see Mats staring intently. Concentrating. Channeling his thoughts. Praying this will be the day the Ball will finally give us the answer we’re all waiting for… “Magic 8 Ball? Should I play hockey this season?” Mats gives the all knowing Ball a strong/firm shake. He stops abruptly. Closes his eyes. Gathers composure. He then, slowly rotates the ball to reveal his outcome.

Ryan Malone Worth More Than Iginla
This is how the NHL owners messed up the first time (actually, not for the first time.) Players who didn't deserve big contracts were for some reason being overpaid. What this does in the simplest terms is put marginal players at a premium thereby driving the whole salary expectations for all players up. At the end of the day, players hold out for more money, owners pay it out, and 5 years from now we wonder why there's a lockout. The only difference this time around is a 'salary cap' exists restricting the money teams can shell out (or it would be a free for all for rich teams.)
That begs the question, "who's overpriced" and who will become "overpaid" in the free agent market set to open July 1st. One thing is for sure, nobody is 'overpriced' if the team is worth spending the money. Take the case of Ryan Malone, a 51 point getter in a 'break out' season for the Penguins last season.
