Flames Sign Tough Guy Andre Roy

So I guess Darryl Sutter was kidding when he basically said that the overall team toughness of the Flames made the need for a bench rider with fists obsolete. Turns out that wasn't entirely true. Revealed first at the NHL.com web site and then by the Flames, Calgary has signed Andre Roy to a one-year one-way deal worth about league minimum.

Todd Bertuzzi is a Calgary Flame

Goodbye Owen Nolan, Hello Todd Bertuzzi

Turns out Daryl Sutter was serious when he said all he wanted was a one-year deal. Only thing was, he lost Nolan to the Wild, but he got another power forward vet. Only thing--it's Todd Bertuzzi....one year deal worth just under 2 million..... Steep for a crook.

One fan upon hearing the news lamented, "what?! that's sick." And not the good kind of sick was inferred. Mixed feeling from Flames fans upon learning of the news, what's your take? Happy with the signing of the big LW with a checkered past?

Owen Nolan Lost to the Wild

And now it seems Calgary is suddenly in a 'rebuilding' stage. First Tanguay, then Huselius, and now Nolan, all gone--basically the entire second line. The replacements? Rene Bourque, Mike Cammalleri, ?. Owen Nolan tonight signed a two year deal that he was seeking, but with the Minnesota Wild. The former Flame was seeking a two year deal whereas the Flames wanted only a one year pact. Turns out the Wild had better plans and way more money to pay.

Vandermeer Bros and Glencross Arrive

Peter and Jim Vandermeer, Curtis Glencross Arrive to Flames

The rumors are true, Curtis Glencross arrives from Edmonton, so let the trash talking begin. Also the fist void has been somewhat answered in two other signings. No contract details yet, but we can be sure the only movement now from the Flames will be to shed some salary.

Mark Giordano Signed - Glencross and Vandermeer Next?

The Calgary Flames have officially announced the signing of Mark Giordano, defencemen who played in Russia last season. He receives a three year one way contract. In other news it seems rumor mills are churning with the advent of another third - forth line LW coming to Calgary in Curtis Glencross.
