Prust and Boyd Recalled – New Life Into Flames?

The Calgary Flames announced the recall of left wing Brandon Prust and center Dustin Boyd. It is the first NHL recall for both players. Prust and Boyd will join the Flames on their three-game road trip which begins Wednesday in Detroit. At least one will factor into the game, maybe both. Boyd leads the Ak-Sar-Ben Knights in scoring with four goals and nine assists for thirteen points in nine games. He is second in AHL rookie scoring and assists. His…

Flames Drop Yet Another – Loose 4-2 to Caps

Flames Drop Yet Another – Loose 4-2 to Caps

Poor defensively play continues to haunt the Calgary Flames. This team was once considered one of the top defensive teams touting one of the best front 6 D-men. That was then, this is now. The Calgary Flames dropped yet another home game staying in the basement of the Western Conference. The Flames are incapable of playing sound defensive games giving away pucks in bad situations in their own zone and forgetting defensive assignments. Even Vezina trophy winner Kiprusoff is playing…

Flames Loose Yet Again – 3-2 Against Nashville

Flames Loose Yet Again – 3-2 Against Nashville

The Flames were tested with a above average hockey team and stunk the joint out. Thank goodness Jarome showed up, but that was about it… Then again, how would I know? I didn’t see the game, and I don’t know many people who did since TV coverage was next to nil for this game. Too bad CBC didn’t show this one…. oh right, we aren’t a liberal province, only Vancouver and every Toronto game gets played Saturdays….. I’m joking, kinda,…

Flames Win 6-1 Against Coyotes

Flames Win 6-1 Against Coyotes

The Calgary Flames finally put it together–just kidding. One team was going to get their third win of the season, and lucky for us it was the Flames. This isn’t to suggest the Flames dominated the Coyotes in every aspect of the game all game, but they did manage their second home win. The first two periods weren’t especially special. McCarty tried in vain to beat up two Coyotes, one of them Laraque…. Props to McCarty for starting a physical…

Bruins Squash Hapless Flames – 3-2

Bruins Squash Hapless Flames – 3-2

Since when does ‘hard work’ win games? That’s the scam the Flames were putting on fans during the sorid ‘young guns’ years. The Calgary Flames can work as hard as they want, but poor defensive play and terrible offence won’t win you games. With his usual per game error Dion Phanuef opened the scoring against Calgary by getting caught out of position with 15 seconds gone in the 1st period. Score, 1-0. Don’t stop there, bad defensive zone coverage caused…

High Scoring Affair Ends In Loss 5-4 for Habs

FlamesForum offers their own take on games; if you want play by play reporting then pick up a newspaper, we’re here to give you the real good. The Calgary Flames came into Montreal after a tough OT loss against Toronto. Nobody really knew what kind of game they were going to bring. Would it be typical lazy Flames hockey? Omaha Knights Win Back to Back on the Weekend

Omaha Knights Win Back to Back on the Weekend

Two come from behind wins gave the Knights 4 points on the weekend. Warren Peters scored with just 2.2 seconds remaining in regulation to give the Knights a 4-3 win over the Grand Rapids Griffins on Saturday. It was the Knights’ first ever win against the Griffins, and it came in front of a sell-out crowd. The final play of the game came in the last ten seconds when Matt Ellis was whistled for tripping. The Knights worked a perfect…

Sundin Scores Hat-Trick and 500th Goal in Win

Sundin Scores Hat-Trick and 500th Goal in Win

Well first things first, I’m beginning to like the style of hockey of the new Maple Leafs. Albeit the referee’s in tonights game were horriable (yes the last penalty on Tucker was a penalty, just as all the other bogus hooks were,) Mats Sundin stole the show by scoring his natural hatrick short-handed with a blast from the point. The Leafs won another high scoring affair 5-4. The Flames surprisingly scored 4 goals in the contest, coming from behind twice….

Typical Flames Win – 1-0 Over the Sens

Typical Flames Win – 1-0 Over the Sens

Jarome leads by example, by missing an open net….but luckily it was with 20 seconds left. The Flames captain continues to lead his team trying to get things going by providing offensive flare and continuing his hard work ethic. In true Flames fashion, the PP didn’t clik and the defensive coverage made the game borderline boring, well not quite, but it was still low scoring. Iginla scored mid-way through the third to provide the only offense the game saw. Two…
