In a deal that was rumored to be complete before the playoffs even got started, the Calgary Flames announced today the three-year signing of speedy centerman Matthew Lombardi. Lomabrdi is coming off a career year despite a disappointing playoffs. His contribution lately is most recognized in his efforts in the recent International Hockey event in Russia where Canada captured gold. Terms were not disclosed.
In the 2006 campaign Lombardi scored 20 goals and 26 assists for 46 points in 81 games.
The Flames drafted the him 90th overall in the 2002 draft after he went back in the draft after failing to sign with the Oilers.
