Second period short-handed goal, the second SH goal in two games, came after Huselius was tripped in his own zone. The PP tinkered with 4 forwards and Huselius may have just played his last shift for the team–I mean as a defenceman on the PP.
Carsen Germyn decided to mix things up by dropping the gloves near the mid-point of the second period. On the ensuing face off (after a goalie change for the Panthers), Jarome Iginla set up the goal as Grant Stevenson scored to give the Flames their second lead of the game.
However, the lead would be short-lived as Florida managed to tie the game off a point-shot with traffic in front of McElhinney. The game stayed dead-locked at 2 until the end of regulation. In a fitting fashion the fans in Saskatoon got their monies worth. The game went to a shoot-out after the overtime period didn’t solve anything. Florida came out on top and Calgary lost their second straight.
Back to back games for the team as they play Vancouver tomorrow.
Notes: Iginla played in Saskatoon and looked strong. Krahn is still recovering from injuries so it’s questionable who will start tomorrow in Vancouver. Cuts will most likely be made after tomorrow’s game.
