Lundmark Recalled – Bourque on IR

The Calgary Flames will spend the next seven of eight games on the road, and not making the trip is team point getter Rene Borque. He was placed on the injured reserve and Jamie Lundmark was recalled from the AHL. No word on the injury before today’s 2PM game against LA, but we can pretty much assume after he took a huge elbow to the face (clear hit to the head), he’s probably groggy.

This may continue the debate on hits to the head as the NHL continues its downward spiral into goondom. Every single professional sport takes steps to protect the head, and severely penalizes players who do, the NHL on the other hand will not take a stand further solidifying its spot as a joke league in America.

What are you thoughts on hits to the head?

  1. I think something should be done about this, Barry. It is beginning to get serious and we cannot lose any of our players – they are too precious for our team. Besides I cannot see why Glencross was suspended even though his hit was unintentional. I am also beginning to fear this Hawks team because this is the second time Bourque is being injured. Perhaps it is my assumption, but it looks like that was the reason why Flames did not perform……and although you have cleared any doubts about reffing, I am sure that that is what was the main issue….
