Rumors are starting to come through Twitter that $3 million dollar man Nik Hagman has hit waivers and that the Maple Leafs have picked him up. Can’t confirm as of yet, but this is a questionable move, one of the first from Feaster. Hagman has under performed, but not as bad as Matt Stajan. He’s been stuck in the dog house and the fourth line for over a month now, and yet you still had hope his skill set would eventually get him back on the goal scoring path.

We are certain Hagman was placed on waivers. Whether Toronto put in a claim at all, and whether they’d be successful remains to be seen. Hagman still has 3 million left on his contract this and next year.

Feb 22nd Update:

No move for Hagman, he cleared without a team claiming him. The rumors that Toronto was going to pick him up were just that–rumors. Hagman will in fact suit up tonite against Boston and maybe we’ll see a renewed Nik Hagman….

So far this season, in 58 games, Hagman has only 9 goals and 15 assists.

This would put the Phaneuf trade, the brilliance of Darryl Sutter, at:

Calgary gets Stajan -- Toronto gets Sjostrom, Aulie, Hagman?, Phaneuf

This is REALLY messed up.

It also means a) Feaster is instructed by ownership to shed salary, b) Kotalik is back up, lol, c) making cap room for something bigger.
