For some reason this season was one where Calgary COULDN”T beat teams at the bottom of the standings if their lives depended on it. Tonight it did and they put in a weak effort. Losing to Edmonton, one of the worst in the NHL, that hurt. What hurt more was the effort. Completely lacking in the third period. Tonight, against an EVEN WORSE team they put in the same effort, couldn’t score, and lost a MUST WIN game.
I said the Flames can only lose 2 more and make the post season. In reality, it’s over, you can’t beat Edmonton and Columbus back to back?!?!?! Try again next year Shames.
Atleast they tied the game and earned a point….but the weak shoot out efforts had been absolutely disappointing. Bearing this in mind, hopefully, the road trip (commencing with the Avalanches) will get the Flames rolling back particularly after the return of Bouma, Jackman and Butler – a full fledged team might once again regain their momentum… but a rejuvenated game plan….and a win..win…win killer instinct will be a definite must must must.
In sum, the Calgary Flames will obviously have to perform above par without turning back. In effect, all players should sustain a greedy attitude – miser enough as to not share any points but devour all they can get from each game…..Go Flames Go.
The Flames have been abysmal against terrible teams and Columbus has always given the Flames a run for their money. They can’t make the playoffs if you can’t beat the lowly Jackets. Simple.
