The Calgary Flames took the second installment of this year’s Battle of Alberta (BoA), but for some reason swept under the rug of the victory was the blatant hit to head by Raffi Torres. The refs didn’t see the play and called a tripping penalty, but replays clearly show an intentional blow to the head with the intent to injure offered by Torres.
David Moss was skating through the offensive zone when was he blindsided in the head with Torres’ shoulder. Moss played one more shift and then left the game. If the NHL is really serious about ‘hits to the head’ then intentional hits like these need to be punished. Your thoughts on the hit?
No suspension and a tiny fine for a liar and dirty player. Here’s what Torres apparently said,
”I’m sure it looked like a head shot, but if I was really trying to hurt him, I would have put my elbow up or my shoulder. His jaw hit me. He ran into me,” Torres told the Edmonton Journal.
He ran into me…. Wow, what a clown.
