The Calgary Flames have confirmed that Dustin Boyd and Kris Chucko have been offered qualifying offers as RFA’s.
In 71 game last season, Boyd had 11 goals and 21 points. A third-round pick of the Flames in 2004, Flames fans hope he can bulk up in the summer and play a bigger this coming season with the pending departure of sniper Michael Cammalleri.
The Flames selected Chucko in the first round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, but the Burnaby, B.C. native has yet to make an impact in the big league. In 74 games last season with the Quad City Flames, Chucko scored 28 goals and 51 points.
The Flames did not offer contracts to Adam Cracknell (a ninth rounder in 2004) and centre Aki Seitsonen (fourth rounder in 2004) by not tendering qualifying offers. Both are eligible for free agency on July 1.
In other news today, Sutter has one more day to try his darndest to sign Jay Bow before the July 1st deadline.
