Say it with me, TIM the “DESTROYER” JACKMAN!
There was a time when the Flames could be down a goal or two and you knew all hope was lost. Nowadays, the Flames stick to the plan and can generally pull wins out of the hat. Granted, they are supposed to beat teams like Ottawa (would be nice if they could’ve done the same to say NYI) but a win is a win, and in the hotly contested NW division race every single win from here on in will mean the difference between post-season and early golf.
Leading the way for the Flames were some unusual heroes.
Tim Jackman with two goals and Anton Babchuk with 3 points including six blocked shots. Yes, you could say the Flames are getting contributions from everybody. A night where the top line didn’t have to produce in order to win. A definite necesssity for a playoff bound team.
Special teams also deserve a mention. They were on fire tonite, controlling the play and scoring three times.
Calgary has a tougher test Friday and Saturday as Anaheim comes to town and Vancouver on Sat. Do you think they can pull it off? I would be happy with one win out of the two.
Notes: Reports that Alex Tanguay is out indefinitely with a concussion may have been premature. He has a neck strain and is day-to-day. A far cry from the ‘indefinite’ this afternoon. That’s great for the Flames given he’s second in scoring.
Hey RO the final score was 5-2 for the Flames. Yes, the home team generated with three power play goals and killed all the penalties drawn against them. Yes, it was remarkable that everyone and the least expected contributed to the win – but that is the name of the game. Keep the opposition in suspicion – no one but the player should know who will get the puck in the net.
Cheers to Anton Babchuk and Tim Jackman for their steady and gritty plays on ice.
It was good to see Robyn Regehr earning points consecutively.
Olli Jokinen’s performance has been solid of late and he has been a great contributor (making exceptional plays and assisting players hit the target)
Brendan Morrison’s plays have been outstanding; not to mention that Hagman’s presence was a warm welcome.
Of note, the way the team is playing, it is highly likely that they will pull up with at least one win. However, Calgary Flames fans hope for the best and want their team to excel from now onwards…..Stick to the game plan boys… and don’t give up……
just watching the Anaheim game. They’re getting a penalty oh and Anaheim scores. Yknow I gotta get up early tomorrow and now it’s tied :( Following the Flames is bad for my blood pressure. I’m sure the doctor wouldnt recommend it. Why do they have to do everything the hardest way????????
