Talk about folding the tent. Calgary played a pathetic game.

The crowd was absent for 50 minutes (pin drop in the first period).

The Flames had three defensive breakdowns that are uncharacteristic of this team that essentially put the nail in the coffin at the beginning of the third.

Calgary can’t beat a team like Phoenix which speaks loudly to their situation. Let’s face it, they are exceptionally weak at center, they always have been, and it’s showing.

David Moss didn’t play, he’s done for most of the remaining time this season. Morrison too. Kotalik is on his way up (yea, he’s the answer ).

Calgary stormed back in the third period, but who cares if they decided to show up with a desperation in the third period? What happened to the first two?

Calgary needs to answer the bell here. They got lucky that Nashville and Dallas lost, but in reality they’re making it VERY hard on themselves.

Mistakes that we saw in October are creeping back into their game. THis is the time to tighten up, not to fold the tent, but for 50 minutes that’s what they did and they lost because of it.

Notes: Lowly Colorado in town THursday. If they can’t win THAT game then we’re toast.

Expect Kotalik to be in the lineup Thursday. Backlund played on the top line as C and made a few plays, but I suspect he blew coverage on the first Phoenix goal.
