**Trade Alert**

Before things even get started in the evening, the Calgary Flames entered the foray and addressed a deep concern on the back end by not simply adding a small piece, but a young proven defenceman in Dougie Hamilton. The cost was steep, but for a proven and capable D man, Calgary has strengthened their backend considerably.

To Calgary: RFA Dougie Hamilton

To Boston: Calgary’s 15th, 45th, and 52nd picks in this year’s entry draft.

More trades and pick updates to come as they happen.

The Flames started their draft weekend by trading their first three picks (15th, 45th and 52nd overall) for Boston Bruins defenceman Dougie Hamilton. They managed to trade up in the draft after their 53rd overall pick sending two third round picks (76 & 83) to the Arizona Coyotes for the 60th overall selection

2nd rd (45th) RASMUS ANDERSSON – D (Barrie – OHL)

2nd rd (60th) OLIVER KYLINGTON – D (Farjestad – SWE)

5th rd (136th) PAVEL KARNAUKHOV – LW (Calgary – WHL)

6th rd (166th) ANDREW MANGIAPANE – LW (Barrie – OHL)

7th rd (196th) RILEY BRUCE – D (North Bay – OHL)

The depth on the D looks great. No goalies in the mix. Some size and skill mixed in. All around, this was a successful draft because of the potential of the players drafted despite their low pick, and of course, the Dougie Hamilton move. The trick now will be to sign him.
