The Calgary Flames have locked goaltender Brent Krahn, former first pick in the 2000 entry draft, to a deal before the July 1st free agency bonanza. Darryl Sutter has also made it clear that the roll of back-up will likely fall to one of the young prospects in the system rather than a savvy old vet. The job is wide open for the best performer come training camp.

Also signed were RW Carsen Germyn, who played all but 2 games in the AHL last season. He posted good numbers playing on the second line in Omaha. C Warren Peters also signed a new contract.
