The Calgary Flames announced Thursday morning the signing of defenceman Anders Eriksson to a two-year contract. The UFA comes as a cheaper version of Zyuzin who played on the team last year. Anders will likely play as the 6-7 D man.

Eriksson has played 491 NHL games with Detroit, Chicago, Florida, Toronto, and Columbus. Over his ten-year NHL career, he has registered 21 goals, 132 assists for 153 points and 204 penalty minutes.

Erickson was originally drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the 1st round (22nd overall) in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft and was part of the Detroit team that won the 1998 Stanley Cup.
