And now it seems Calgary is suddenly in a ‘rebuilding’ stage. First Tanguay, then Huselius, and now Nolan, all gone–basically the entire second line. The replacements? Rene Bourque, Mike Cammalleri, ?. Owen Nolan tonight signed a two year deal that he was seeking, but with the Minnesota Wild. The former Flame was seeking a two year deal whereas the Flames wanted only a one year pact. Turns out the Wild had better plans and way more money to pay.

With the loss of vet Brian Rolston Minnesota looked to shore up their RW. They paid (an overpayment for a player with 32 points) 2.7 million per season for two years to acquire Nolan’s services. The only up-sides to the deal? Calgary saves some cash, they get a bit younger, and the Regehr v. Nolan rivalry can continue with eight meetings next season.

I’m sure someone like David Moss (we hope……..) can fill in for the 32 lost points.
