Flames forward Andre Roy has been suspended for one game and fined $2,500 (the maximum allowed under the CBA) as a result of an incident in the pregame warm-up. Roy apparently initiated contact with Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Aaron Johnson.
Massive cross checks to the head are no problem, a push to the back pregame is a suspension (on par with a connect cross check to the face a la Lucic).
Fans at the game say they saw the contact, but it wasn’t worth a suspension. Let us know if you have video.
Roy’s suspension will be served on Saturday night when the Flames meet the Blackhawks in Game Five of the series.
Well said. I wonder why such retarded decisions are being made and who is responsible for them!. Obviously, the cross check on Rene Bourque was not very serious because Rene only missed “one crucial game”. Oh! and Roy’s incidental contact on Aaron Johhson was serious enough that Johnson could be hospitalized and miss the rest of the series!! Great thinking!!! About time Darryl said something.
Biased decisions?
When did we get so may Gary Bettman referee’s?
I’m getting used to ending up on the short end of tne stick as usual. I’m not sure why he would get a suspension, but not that little bastard Burrish. I’m still waiting for someo?e to exact some on ice revenge for that one. Let’s hope that Calgary can pull a win out tonight, and come back to win it all in Calgary on Monday. Go Flames Go!!!
IHi Flaming Moe.
Please lets not have any Flame avenge the Burrish episode. We have enough on our shoulders with suspensions…. and what we don’t want is to lose a key player on the basis of revenge – professionalism and hard work will pay off in the long run. As you say, hope the Flames can pull a win out tonight, win it all in Calgary on Monday. Go Flames Go!!!
Hi anar, I’m not talking about anything dirty. I just want to see one of our guys hammer that little cheap shot artist with a good clean check that rocks him good. I have never liked dirty hockey and would never encourage it. There is nothing wrong though with hoping that little a$$hole gets knocked into next week. Go Flames Go!!!!
The Flames only have to win one away….let’s cheer them on to victory YO.
