The Flames have added new tough guy, former Ottawa Senator Brian McGrattan. The six-foot-three, 235-pounder was an unrestricted free agent.
McGrattan, 27, played more than 140 games for the Senators before he was traded to the Phoenix Coyotes for a fifth-round pick in June, 2008.
After just three games with Phoenix he voluntarily entered the substance abuse program administered jointly by the NHLPA.
McGrattan will add more toughness compared to Roy, but the question is he chemistry with the team. HE entered the substance abuse program for what could be depression problems, alcohol abuse, or the much rumored cocaine problem that supposed ran through the Senators locker room.
Needless to say, if he’s healthy then it’s a positive move (assuming hiring dudes to get hit in the face day in and day out is positive….)
In other news, was at the Stampede yesterday and caught a few familiar faces included Curtis Glencross on a chuckwagon:
And Mike Commodore taking in the races:

This guy is a true scrapper, and will add (punch)…pun intended to the line-up if he stays sober
Finally we get a true enforcer again. I feel we missed Godard’s presence last year. Having a true heavy weight is always a nice addition to have on your team. Great signing.
Yeah, I missed Godard. I hope the two of them never have to square-off with each other. I wouldn’t know who to root for.
I hear ya Del, I really liked Godard also but I’ll have to go with the new home town boy McGrattan.
