The Manitoba Moose have lost one of their best and most recognizable players, as free-agent winger Jason Jaffray has agreed to terms on a contract with the Calgary Flames.
Jaffray’s departure comes a day after Manitoba’s leading scorer, centre Jason Krog, latched on with the Atlanta Thrashers.
Lundmark, from his home in Philly, said he signed a one-year, two-way deal worth $600,000 US.
Jaffray, who grew up in Olds, was a popular member of the Moose. Former Flames grinder Warren Peters signed with the Dallas Stars.
The Flames re-signed forwards Carsen Germyn and Ryley Grantham. German was first in assists (47) and second in scoring (60 points) with Quad City Flames last season. Germyn is entering his seventh season of professional hockey and fifth with the Flames. Germyn has played for both the Kelowna Rockets and Red Deer Rebels of the WHL.
Flames have also signed defenseman Staffan Kronwall.
Kronwall, a native of Jarfalla, Sweden, has over 50 games of NHL experience split between Washington and Toronto. Kronwall was originally drafted by Toronto in the 9th round (285th overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
Staffan led all defenseman in team scoring with three goals and nine assists during 21 playoff games with the Hershey Bears who captured the 2009 Calder Cup Championship.
