Curtis Glencross with the game winning goal and let loose his man to spoil Curtis McElhinney’s chance for his first NHL shut out with two minutes remaining. It was that kind of night for the Flames: all around solid effort but a blemish late.

The third game in four days, and second against the Oilers in that same time, Calgary looked to get back on the extended winning streak with three games. For the most part, the New Year’s Eve tilt was all Flames, to be expected given the state of the hapless Oilers.

Goal scorers today were Glencross, and lo and behold Craig COnroy with his second in as many games. Calgary also outshot Edmonton by a wide margin. The only thing missing from the game was the fists that were prevalent late in Monday’s game.

Curtis McElhinney recorded his third win of the season as the Flames closed out 2009 with the win.

Let’s hope that the Flames continue their winning in the New Year; Toronto in town for Satuday’s tilt.
