In the last 16 games the Calgary Flames have only lost three games in regulation. Maybe Darryl Sutter was right…. He did expect the team to turn around right when they did, given the return of all injured players, the team has pulled together some solid hockey since Christmas. Their play has now put them three points out of 7th spot. Of course, they’re still 2 points out of 14th….

Consistency from here on in is the name of the game as the Flames aren’t out of the woods yet. Two losses puts them back at the bottom, but in the least, going into the All-star break, Calgary can relish their winning ways.

Kipper Plays 500th

The Flames played a smart hockey game, but far from dominant. In total they had under 20 shots, half of which came in the first period. Cause for concenr perhaps? They did hit a few posts early on, but apart from flashes here and there, it wa sthe usual heroics of Miikka Kiprusoff that bailed the team out of tight spots.

Kipper recorded the win in his 500th NHL game.

Offensively David Moss chipped in with three points. Moss has 11 goals this season and EIGHT of them have come on multi-goal games. Hopefully he continues to score in bunches.

Notes: Craig Conroy was placed on waivers today, he is expected to retire. Ales Kotalik sat for his second straight game. Next up is Nashville Tuesday. The Flames will play St Louis three more times this year.
