The Jets came to town. Years in the making the Winnipeg Jets returned to Calgary and with them came a multitude of fans. Something about the atmosphere in the rink and the torrid pace of Eastern Conference teams coming to the ‘Dome made for an exciting evening. Other than a mental breakdown late in the first period Calgary largely dominated the game; they also cashed in on a strong PP.
First start to Tanguay for his 4 point night….Flames are now 1 point out of 8th yet SJ has 2 games in hand. By my count they can only lose 4 more in the last 14. Go FLames…..
Notes: Sven Beartschi with his first NHL game. He was largely a non-factor in limited play, but you caught glimpses of his skill.
A type of game that fans prefer to see their heroes play….multiple points for Jokinen, Giordano, Iginla, Tanguay and Stajan…..and Matt Stajan strives for his statistics too!! Congratulations Matt. As for the powerplay performance, it had been excellent and more importantly was the victory that put the Flames to 9th place in the west…..Go Flames Go….
Although the Jets displayed more intensity throughout the evening, the aggressiveness of Sven Beartschi and the young boys did not go unnoticed as they provided their teammates with the required momentum. Of noteworthy was the overall team performance of the Flames – a fast paced but clean style of hockey that was determined to achieve their goal. And they did too in a good fashion. Great going, boys…… Go Flames Go
