Kadri Takes Another Night Off
After taking it on the chin in Vegas in front of a national audience, the Calgary Flames were looking to rebound against a tough Winnipeg team. The effort was there, but the typical laziness crept into the game. Nazem Kadri had perhaps one of his worst games as a Flame. Consistently behind the play. Lazy backchecking that gave Winnipeg the go-ahead goal. Boneheaded lazy change that gave Winnipeg a PP in the second. A complete disaster on the PP. Kadri still played a regular shift despite his effort.
The other thing that’s consistent is the power-play for the Flames is atrocious. For some reason the Morgan Frost experiment continues with 0 0 0 results.
Where does a team that can’t score go from here? WEll the good news is a first round pick this coming draft season will be solid.
Of course, it’s early, and a lot of things can happen. Players can decide to show up, Kadri for instance, the Flames could go on a run and finish 16th like they always do. A lot of things can happen….
As Kadri’s game plummets, Parekh on defence is struggling. The learning curve is massive and he’s constantly out of position. He’s got all the time to figure it out, but fans are probably wondering if this season is going to be horrible. The team seems to have taken a huge step backwards.
I respect truthful pieces like this. What you are saying is true, and it’s probably best to just continue along not scoring with this pitiful group for as long as possible to get in the best position to hopefully get McKenna.
Stop trying to thread the needle. Trade old guys, play kids, be terrible, and start to get high, blue-chip first round talents in here.
