First off, was it just me or does Nick Suzuki use the butt end of his stick on face-offs against opposing players? Just me….

The Calgary Flames continue stacking losses led by the usual suspects. Nazem Kadri completely MIA and off in his own world. The powerplay, completely pathetic. Defensive pairings, pathetic. Goaltending, actually pretty darn good.

For a team that’s likely to spend the rest of the season at 32, and I say that without without hyperbole, this is the season to do it. Look at the other side, Montreal is where Calgary wants to be in 5 years.

Problem is, Calgary needs to draft properly.

That will include giving prospects and young talent chances to play and develop. Right now they sit on the bench watching Kadri puck hog and shoot the puck in the corner.  Powerplay units? 1st unit still given to the vets. Overtime? Backlund starts….

The results speak: IT’S NOT WORKING.

This is an example of a coach giving the vets their ‘dues’ before just playing it out with the rookies. It needs to happen and will soon. The Flames are so bad, and the season will be done in a month where we’ll get to see if the younger Parekh, Zary, Cornato, can carry the mail going forward. Cause right now, the vets are not getting it done.
