The Calgary Flames, against another team not making the playoffs and without 6 of their starters and playing their third string goalie, got embarrassed at home on ‘fan appreciation’ night.
Low scoring with no scoring in the shoot-out (Iginla now 0-4 this year).
Thanks for nothing Flames, you’re going to get destroyed in Vancouver to emphasize everything that’s wrong with this hapless club.
This really sums up the entire season. Man this team just isn’t very good… See ya next year fellow Flame fans!!!
I was at the game tonight, and it was great. Kipper made me jump out of my seat 4 times; awesome.
Lots of chances for the offence; we out-shot the visitors about 2-1, and their regulation goal was scored on a bad penalty call.
Ok, that shouldn’t sink a winning team, but with the parity in the league, and a few 1-goal games that could have gone the other way, how can real fans say that not making the playoffs is the apocolypse?
A good center for Iggie should easily take our current staff into playoff-dom.
And don’t forget that half of the guys that make the playoffs are out in the first round.
Last year it was the Sharks with their President’s trophey beingousted in round 1, OMG! said the fans.
The Flames fans’ rant last year was “we got knocked out in the first round again”.
It’s a game, and there isn’t much to differentiate the bottom from the middle or the top.
Every team MIGHT win the cup every year, but any who EXPECT to win the cup every year are dreaming. Be happy with what you get.
Who could have imagined the Ducks not making the playoffs?
Give our boys a break. It was a crazy year, and I really enjoyed the ride. Great new players; I’m really looking forward to next year.
Go Pens Go!
JtJ.
Well put Jim.
It was a better game to watch, not great, but the fact remains, this is an overpriced team that CAN’t score. Minnesota is among the worst in the league and yet have beaten the Flames three times.
There is NO partiy. PErhaps it’s more competitive, that’s for sure, but there is a MOUNTAIN of different between Calgary and everyone who made the playoffs.
The biggest two are a) number 1 center; b) youth in the lineup.
We have neither and thus we crap our pants.
I’m not looking forward to next year if we have the same lineup, because right now it’s missing goals.
It had been upsetting that the Flames did not win on home ice on fan appreciation night, but the victory could have gone either way…It was just unfortunate that it went in favour of the opposition team.
But let’s face it, a lot has happened this season – the trades that happened at an inopportune moment…. losing so many players at once and by golly, although the Calgary Flames team are professional players, they are also human….and paid for the mistakes made by others….Let’s all hope that things will only get better after these major setbacks.
It was great exchanging views in the forum, pals… Until next year now. It will nice watching the playoffs with an unbiased views… because it doesn’t matter who wins. But I will be sticking up for the Canucks and then who knows???..
Oh no anar, please pick anyone else but the Nucks… My least favorite team hands down. Also the Flames biggest rivals.
Hey Flaming Moe…..I don’t mind anyone getting the Cup because it doesn’t make any difference now. All Calgary Flames fans can do now is to watch the playoffs without much enthusiasm because it already seems like part of me has died.??? major depressive disorder?
I know what you mean anar, but for me anyways with the rivalry against the Nucks I couldn’t stand seeing them win it. Also I work with some really obnoxious CanSuck fans, and if they win, it will make life around the office quite hard. Go Ottawa Go!!!
I know the feeling, Flaming Moe and after tonight’s game it must feel awful.
