1 of a possible 4 points is all the Flames have to show for an abysmal California road-trip. Coming in they were, shockingly, four points out of a playoff spot. Now they are 7. This is perhaps the easiest schedule for the Flames, a chance to beat team and get some points.
But, this Calgary Flames team can’t win consecutive games. Blame whoever you want, but the bottom line is they don’t win.
Karlsson got the start in goal and did his part to help the Flames, who let’s face it, they played a great road game. But great road games accompanied with a loss are no good. IT’s basically do or die from here on in and the likelihood of the Flames going .650 the rest of the way is TINY.
Jarome Iginla lead the way in the third period for Calgary who generated scoring chances galore but couldn’t capitalize. If this was game 3 it would be a great indicator of future games, but since Calgary is at the bottom of the league this is a sad sap story we’ve seen too many times before.
3 game homestand, if they take all 3, the whole outlook changes. But they haven’t won 3 in a row all season…..
Notes: Matt Stajan a healthy scratch. The Flames didn’t miss him.
Nonetheless a good overall team effort had been demonstrated particularly after the visiting team came back from a two goal deficit….certainly an improvement and of noteworthy is the fact that the Calgary Flames were able to steal a point at their opponent’s expense.
The visiting team’s performance last night demonstrated that they have the capability to show their offensive skills in terms of shots on goal while the team’s defensive spirits had also been conspicuous when they had killed the critical penalty during the OT. By and large, the two points could have been earned easily, but the Flame’s offensive threat had been absent during the shoot out…..
Thanks to the terrific Tanguay for the lone shoot out goal.
An identical or even better performance on home ice will help the Calgary Flames get back on track and fans wish them the best. Go Flames Go!!!
Rumours have been floating about bothe Sutters’ demise. Honestly we dont need another coaching change again, but Darryl should have been gone long ago.
