The Flames closed the season much the way they opened, with a loss. Albeit this time they had a bit more jump and provided home fans with some entertainment. The Flames were playing for nothing. Mostly the same with Vancouver. Nonetheless the teams put on a good show. Calgary went up to lead 2-0 dominating most of the play. But eventually special teams and quick transition play by the Canucks tied things up.
Cue OT where most fans expected yet another shoot out (Flames have seen OT 23 times this season). The didn’t ge tthe SO, and Calgary lost 3-2. Karlsson in net did OK, Iginla was his usual self, and the rest of the team was mostly absent.
The loss caps another disappointing season. What fans want now, and what management will deliver, despite the 2011 desperate run, will be monster changes. Look for Flames Forum posts on the upcoming off-season transactions where you can have your say.
A fond farewell to all Flames fans and hockey bloggers. Talk to you soon.
Happy playoffs!
