You’d think being one point out of a playoff spot would be enough to motivate the Flames…. But no, they had a lazy start in a crucial divisional game against their rivals. The top line in particular was terrible in the first period going -2. That pretty much sums up the game. Iginla and co. had a slow start (yet again) and went down 3-0 in the first. Sure the Flames dominated the final two periods, but in reality nobody cares if you can dominate play but still lose 3-1.
Detroit tomorrow, let’s hope a few more players wake up in time from their afternoon nap to play come puck drop.
Yeeessshhhh…..
I agree that it wasn’t an excellent initial period for the Flames, Barry, but it had been my anticipation that Toskala would be the starting goalie- perhaps the outlook would have been much better with him in the net. nfortunately, he could not make any difference on the scoreboard considering that he only had to pick up the scraps after the Flames were down 3-0.
Letting bygones be b yones, it was great to see Regehr score. Great going and congratulations, Robyn
Go Flames Go!!! Good luck in Detroit.
