The depth chart behind #1 & #2 defencemen Bouwmeester and Giordano is looking mighty thin. On the LW there's TJ Brodie sitting #6.... Although he has skills is he ready for the big time? After Gio there's Sarich with that veteran presence, Babchuk who's played the...

Last year the Flames made splashes at the draft, but it wasn't by drafting anybody. Without any picks in the top two rounds the Flames sat around. This year is different, 3 selections in the first two rounds. That didn't stop pre-draft day news from picking up steam...
Maybe he should not have left in the first place. Alex Tanguay, coming off a great season where he played for cheap, has resigned with the Flames for five years. The deal was in place but couldn't be made official until the FLames were bale to dump 7+ million in...
***As of 9AM MST this deal is official. Only change is a 2nd rounder goes to Buffalo. A clear cut salary dump necessary to resign Tanguay to his 5 year deal.*** After days of speculation (who leaks these things anyways?) media reports are still humming and hawing...
Calgary has lost a great leader and one of the greatest community contributors of the past century. With great sadness, this morning the Calgary Flames, or rather the entire city, received news that philanthropist, businessman, Flames owner, and community leader...
Flames Re-Sign Karlsson The Calgary Flames announced the signing of backup goaltender Henrik Karlsson to a two year one-way deal worth about 860K a year. Karlsson played in 17 games last season with the Flames, and despite a losing record, showed glimmers that he's a...
Last week the news arrived that the new associate coaches were starting to fill the ranks. The likes of ex-NHL coach (last with the Ottawa Senators) Craig Hartsburg. His 14 years of NHL experience will help the Flames. What's unknown is whether his style will be...
Yesterday the club announced the removal of the 'interim' from Jay Feaster's title. He will proceed as the undisputed GM for the team this coming year. Jury is out on his effectiveness. He was left an utter mess in payroll by his predecessor Darryl 'Stajan was a good...
The Herald is reporting that Glencross has signed a deal reported to be worth about 2.55 million a season. The signing means the Calgary Flames secured their third line winger who occasionally played up and certainly overachieved this year with over 20 goals. Is $2.55...
The Flames closed the season much the way they opened, with a loss. Albeit this time they had a bit more jump and provided home fans with some entertainment. The Flames were playing for nothing. Mostly the same with Vancouver. Nonetheless the teams put on a good show....
In a meaningless game that I wasn't going to bother covering two newsworthy items. 1. Jarome Iginla registered his 1000th point in a three point night. Anybody who advocated this guy's trade mid-way through the season is a moron. almost 40 goals and 90 points. No bad...
Nothing to report, just that he Flames didn't show up yet again. They don't have gas in the tank it seems. Which is a good thing, because now we can expect the same wholesale changes we were looking for in December. Golf Flames Golf!
If I had stopped watching this game, which most probably did after two periods, we would've had a summary that including blasting overpaid hockey players for failing to show up to work. The Calgary Flames are fighting for their playoff lives. The Edmonton Oilers are a...
