Post-game summary, team news, and commentary.
If the Heritage Classic on Feb. 20th is anything like this game then we're in for a great show--and a Flames win. Calgary needs to play .700 hockey these days to 'make the playoffs' so that means squandered chances and 'almosts' really mean nothing. Tonight they...
I'm going to do this post-game in point form cause frankly I'm too lazy to write anything coherent about a team that shows glimpses of competence but does more than enough to bury any hope of making the post-season. Sad since we have HALF the season left, yet the...
Just when you thought it couldn't get anymore sad this happens. Calgary played a pretty solid game, but little elements of their game creeped up to haunt them. Most notably, the inability to finish scoring chances. On the flip side, one thing you rarely hear said is...
When the hippies from Vancouver started chanting 'Calgary sucks' there wasn't much you could do. The Flames suck, it's not even funny anymore. The Calgary Flames don't even put up a fight to make rivalries interesting. For me at least, tonight was the first time I...
Calgarians know one thing: the Flames NHL hockey team is an embarrassment to the city. Coming off a four game win streak the team showed promise to just maybe claw back into the playoff race by February. The problem? Calgary can't beat bottom basement dwellers, we're...
No, not re-signs, Darry Sutter has answered all Christmas wishes a couple days late by resigning from his position as GM of the Calgary Flames. Sutter triumphantly came to the city in late 2002 and took the Flames to the Cup final the following. From there it was all...
If there was a game the Flames deserved to win and did it was this one. Why is it that Calgary can beat the #2 team in the West, yet they fall to Minnesota twice? There's mathematical hope the team can make the playoffs, but they have to go about .700 the rest of the...
This team is garbage. That is all.
Supposedly a crucial game, the Flames exhibited why all non-Flames pundits laughed at the team before the season started. I prefer to laugh at Minnesota, but the team with a bunch of no names continually beats on the Flames. The Wild have the most boring hockey in the...
You know who has the least amount of goals for in the West Division? The Minnesota Wild, by a wide margin. Tonight they potted three against the Flames. Calgary got zero. That just highlights the effort and capabilities of this hockey club--non-existent. Flames fans...
I'm a bit surprised that Toronto still has fans that come out and vehemently support the team in visiting cities even though they haven't won anything in, well, forever. The Leafs arrived, which was onerous enough but the pre-game attention was focused on the...
Calgary has 7 games before December comes to a close and they are all against beatable teams. Trouble is Calgary can't string together wins. Maybe this energetic win will put the FLames on a roll? We can only hope because anything less pretty much means the season is...
1 of a possible 4 points is all the Flames have to show for an abysmal California road-trip. Coming in they were, shockingly, four points out of a playoff spot. Now they are 7. This is perhaps the easiest schedule for the Flames, a chance to beat team and get some...
Who's fault is it if a team's not prepared for games? The captain? The coach? The players? There are no answers to this pathetic hockey team. Either the Flames are really THIS bad, or they don't really care to show up to games. Coming into tonight's contest they were...
The Calgary Flames currently site at the VERY bottom of the Western Division (but after this game they may be slightly higher than the Oilers). You'd think that this team is rebuilding, underpaid, or full of rookies.... Well that's not the case. The Flames have...
