Post-game summary, team news, and commentary.
The Calgary Flames aren't playing a lot of hockey this week, so it's imperative that they find winning ways so they don't have to dwell on a loss. An already fragile psyche doesn't need any more problems....like the existing ineptitude to score goals. Calgary didn't...
Well they stopped the bleeding but they haven't made any inroads to playing winning hockey. Calgary lost yet again and the frustrating thing is this team is the SAME TEAM from the past two years (if not more). Same problems, same lack of scoring, same junk. And a...
Yea, seven goals. Jarome Iginla, none, in fact, he's getting worse. Calgary was off to a 2-0 start but gave up quick goals twice to get hammered 7-2. Bad penalties started the downward spiral which lead to the inevitable pounding. Not worth typing if the FLames can't...
The Flames could help themselves win if they could muster enough desire to skate with young blood. Colorado doesn't really boast a bonafide star. Sure, maybe Hedjuk is in the mix, but he's washed up....kinda of like Jarome Iginla. Why the Flames lost tonite? Simply...
Surprisingly the elder statesman Conroy hasn't hit 1000 games, whereas Langkow and Iginla have. Nonetheless, the achievement is a milestone in one's career, and it will even come with a silver stick presented by the Flames (not sure if that's tonight.) Here what's...
Well that was mostly unnecessary.... After Deadmonton fans realised their fortunes this season may not even translate into a playoff spot (let's face it, still not a good team), they came into Calgary to face the Flames for the third time in the first month of the new...
Well that was unexpected. The Flames, fresh off a 6-2 win against Columbus came back home to face the always tough San Jose Sharks. What most wondered was what kind of Flames team was going to show up. So far this season Calgary has been average at best, playing well...
So far this season the Flames are performing slightly above average. Their 4-3 record would indicate the same thing. Their top players putting up big points every other game legitimizes the record. Tonight the top two lines decided to play and the Flames came out on...
You know why the Flames lost? Two reasons. 1) The PP sucks. 2) The top players suck. Everyone thought life was great after Calgary's great win over Edmonton. Truth be told, we're now six games into the new season and the top line (top players) have only produced in...
Watching the game today on Sportsnet Flames someone came in during the third period and said, "Slow Mo Johnson!" Suggesting the game was slow, in slowmo, and any other slow you want to talk about. Sure there were moments with some big hits, but really, Calgary played...
If there was any question about the effectiveness of the closed door meetings after the abysmal loss Calgary took against the Florida Panthers then look no further then tonight. In comeback fashion Calgary engineered 3 third period goals to take game 2 of this year's...
Florida doesn't get much snow. In fact, they barely have a fan base. If Florida's top line hadn't amassed a point, only rare scoring chances, nobody would care. If management brought back old faces touting a new renewed opportunity for Stanley Cup glory, only Panther...
After an embarrassing blowout to start the NHL season, Calgary looked to rebound in their home opener against an LA team fresh off a win last night against Vancouver. Things didn't get off to a good start for the Flames. On Adam Pardy's first shift he threw his...
Terrible: Calgary 0 - Oilers 4 Welcome back Flames Forum fans to another fantastic (we hope) season! The wait is finally over, and the anticipation has been killing all hockey fans around the globe. Today the puck dropped literally across the world with Carolina v....
You might recall my bold prediction of 98 points for the Flames. I for one am a bit rosey when it comes to the potential of this year's Flames. Why? Simply put, too many players had an off season last year and a repeat would spell doom not only for the franchise but...
